Christmas Common by Lizzy Hardingham
Every year come December time, I know I’ll shed a tear
Swapping scores down the memory line for the brightest of the year
Now I know without a doubt last year I saw a blip
Happy memories simply running out, slipping through my fingertips
Last year I could use a little light
Driving over Christmas Common late last night
When the bed made of nettles was covered in snow
And the magical moments their faces did show
And the fountain of St Agnes with music did flow
Just when I needed it most
Stained glass windows framed a friend of mine in beaming holy light
Christmas bells they began to chime singing ‘O Holy Night’
Last year I was down, I took the blows
Driving over fields I saw the light on the snow
When the bed made of nettles was covered in snow
And the magical moments their faces did show
And the fountain of St Agnes with music did flow
Just when I needed it most
Last year I fell in to the abyss
Freezing falling stumbling in the dark, save me from this
When the bed made of nettles was covered in snow
And the magical moments their faces did show
And the fountain of St Agnes with music did flow
Just when I needed it most
